FAQs

How do I know if I've hit my performance ceiling as a business owner?

You've hit your ceiling when the business stops growing not because the market changed, but because you stopped changing. If revenue has plateaued for 12-18 months, if you're still the bottleneck on every major decision, if your team can't move without you - that's not a market problem. That's you. The business can only grow as fast as you do. If you've flatlined, so has it.

What's the difference between a business coach and an executive coach?

A business coach works with you on the whole business over the long haul - strategy, growth, leadership, decision-making, the works, usually over years, not months. Executive coaching tends to be narrower and shorter, often tied to a specific corporate role or a company's development budget. I offer both, but my core practice is business coaching for owners who are building something they intend to run for the long term.

I'm stuck around $1-3 million in revenue and can't seem to break past it. Why?

Because whatever got you here won't get you there. The skills that built a $1M business - hustle, doing everything yourself, being the hero - actively work against you at the next level. You have to let go of being the smartest person in every room and start building a business that doesn't need you in every room. Most owners refuse to do that. That's the whole ballgame.

What does a business coach actually do day to day?

I don't hand you a workbook and check in monthly. I sit across from you and tell you the truth nobody else in your life will - not your spouse, not your team, not your board. Then I hold you accountable to actually doing something about it. If you want a cheerleader, hire someone else.

How long does business coaching take to show results?

If you're serious and you do the work, you'll see shifts in your own decision-making within 60-90 days. Business results - revenue, team performance, your own time back - usually follow within two to three quarters. This isn't a quick engagement. My clients typically work with me for years, because the business keeps evolving and so do the problems worth solving. If someone promises you a 30-day turnaround, they're selling you something.

Is business coaching worth the investment for a business owner?

Only if you're actually going to use it. Coaching doesn't work on people who want to feel better about being stuck. It works on people who are done being stuck and are willing to be uncomfortable to fix it. If that's you, it's the best ROI you'll get this year. If it's not you, save your money.

What is the "Performance Ceiling" concept?

It's the idea that every business owner eventually hits a wall that has nothing to do with market conditions and everything to do with their own habits, decisions, and blind spots. Most owners think they need a new strategy. What they actually need is to become a different leader than the one who got them this far.

How is your coaching style different from other business coaches?

I don't sugarcoat anything. Most coaches are afraid to tell clients the hard truth because they don't want to lose the client. I'd rather lose a client than lie to one. If your idea is weak, I'll tell you it's weak and why. That's my job.

What industries do you work with?

I work primarily with business owners in the $1M-$10M revenue range, across industries - professional services, healthcare, law, and beyond. The problems at this stage - founder bottleneck, a team you can't fully trust, growth that outpaced your systems - look the same regardless of what you sell.

Do you offer one-time coaching sessions or only ongoing engagements?

I work with clients on an ongoing basis, usually months, not weeks, because real change in a business doesn't happen in one conversation or one quarter. Reach out and tell me where you're stuck - I'll tell you straight whether that's a fit.

Do you also offer executive coaching?

Yes, for individual executives inside larger organizations who want the same direct, no-sugarcoating approach. It's a smaller part of my practice - my primary focus is business coaching for owners in the $1M-$10M range who are in it for the long run.
