5 Easy Steps To Improve Your Life.
There are so many books, seminars, and articles about how to motivate (yes I know, this is one too!). But I think they miss something big: To be successful in business and life, you need to build a motivational foundation inside YOU.
1. FOCUS & MEDITATE
Do you spend hours doing nothing? Do you play online games? Too much Youtube/News Sites? You are not alone — and the first thing to stop these destructive behaviors is finding a purpose, a goal to focus your energies. How do I do this? I listen to John & Julianne.
I have done a lot of meditation throughout my life and John and Julianne from Profound Life Wellness are the BEST. Relax, take deep breaths and allow your mind to float. Think of things that make you happy, think of things that get you excited about life. They will come to you in relaxation.

2. MOVE YOUR BODY
A good solid 20-minute walk will do more for a depressed person than any medication. Exercise makes you feel better, look better and perform better in life. It chases away all those negative thoughts that creep in during the day.

3. MEET LOTS OF PEOPLE
So now you have desire and purpose, you feel good, you look good, but you don't feel that happiness I've been talking about.
YOU NEED TO START TALKING TO EVERYONE. There is an art to a good conversation and coupled with that a skill to overcoming shyness. When you were first learning how to add, it was hard. Looking back, it seems 21+18 is a joke equation compared to f(x) is (-ia)ng(a).
The art of conversation is the same. We learn the basics of conversation, but not the skills needed to carry a great one as an adult. I want you to think of someone you love talking to — what is it about the conversation that makes it fun, lively, and memorable?

Learn this skill — it will land you a great job, build your business, and attract the best friends you'll ever have.
4. MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO TALK TO YOU
Who wants to be a hit at parties? YOU DO! Memorize these psychological quizzes (everyone loves them and they’re easy to learn):
- Super Power - Flying or X-Ray vision (their real personality)
- Favorite Animal (how they view themselves)
- Second Favorite Animal (their ideal partner)
- Describe a Tree on top of a hill (their view on life)
- Room with no doors, windows, black except for candle how do you feel? (Their thoughts and feelings on death)
Try this to any group of people and they will love it. Learn the art of making every conversation exciting and fun for both you and your 'verbal judo' sparring partner.
5. BE GRATEFUL
Now things are going well — and they will keep going well as long as you don't take what you have, what you’ve learned and what you gained FOR GRANTED.
To keep that joy, motivation, and happiness flowing you need GRATITUDE. Here’s a great tool to do this every day.

The Two Most Important Days Of Your Life.
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” — Mark Twain What a powerful quote. But what does it really mean?
And more importantly, what does it really mean TO YOU?
Some people already know — they're sure about their purpose. There are also some people who have a good idea, but they aren't 100% sure about why they're on this earth.
And then there are people who don't know. Why is that?
- They don't want to know. When they get close to learning their true purpose — they step back and shy away.
- They go through life without a purpose. They don't realize the magic of having a purpose and the power it brings.
- They vacillate from one purpose to another. This isn't a bad thing — but in the end it probably causes internal and external confusion of purpose.
So the big question is — How do you figure out your life's purpose? I have some strategies:
- Sit down and think, meditate and reflect.
- Review where you've been, what you've done, and who you've impacted/influenced so far.
- Review what things/people/activities energize you (and what ones enervate you).
- Start to finely focus your lens and cull down your choices to a few.
- Then step back and look at the whole picture.
- Finally, make a clear decision, understand what your purpose is, and move forward.
Years ago, two powerful things happened which helped me fully understand my purpose in life.
First, one of my best friends from college, Dave Taylor, recommended a book to me — Tuesdays With Morrie. I can't tell you how much this book changed my life and outlook on the world. If you haven't read it — READ IT. If you have — READ IT AGAIN.
It allowed me to briefly step off the corporate rat race mentally and better understand what are the really important things in life.
Second, I hired Karen Gregaitis, my Dale Carnegie trainer and coach to help me excel and cope with my erratic corporate leadership role. She recommended I take an assessment call Tru-Values (a tool I use with many of my clients) which allowed me to better understand the value drivers in my life.
To this day, I focus on my four values - Encourage, Energize, Enlighten & Have Fun. Wonder why I coach, write, and speak?

Get Ahead & Have Fun At The Same Time.
During a coaching session with one of my incredible clients, I constructed a term they needed to produce to ensure success at their task. I called it ENERGETIC ENTHUSIASM.
They have a marketplace-imposed deadline — they only have 30 days to get their task complete. So they have to get off their butt and get it done.
I coached a client this morning and got them focused and targeted. I thought I'd share it with you: I call it ENERGETIC ENTHUSIASM.
Let's say you have a strict deadline to deliver — 30 days to complete your task. So you have to get off your butt and get it done.
FACT: Dig deep into your well and pull out the energy to get things done quickly. But you also have to couple it with a deep sense of true enthusiasm to ensure you don't run out of steam halfway through.
The bad news: It's hard to start.
It's like a lawn mower in the back of your shed — you need to use it, but you haven't pulled the cord for years. It might take 5-10 minutes of pulling, sweating, and swearing — but when it's complete — it's running and you are off cutting grass.
The good news: It's easy to maintain. Once you start the enthusiasm engine, the energy just flows from all of your pores. Ideas flow, people are caught up in the maelstrom, and you just keep going, going, going.
The only caveat: Stay away from energy vampires. They are (in no real order):
- Gossipy colleagues and friends
- The piles of paper, to-do's, and mess in your office (you need this guy)
- Family members who complain
- The news, media or any resource that thrives on bad news
- Surfing - set a specific time to surf and then get off the web
Energy vampires will sap your energy in no time flat. Keep the enthusiasm cycle moving & keep your energy up. Here are some energy service stations:
- Exercise - do anything, go for a walk, workout, anything - get a personal trainer.
- Music - get your favorite jazzy tunes and listen - iTunes
- Motivational speakers - Zig Ziglar, Anthony Robbins, Gary Vaynerchuk
- Dance/Sing - move your body and your voice, do Zumba!
- Meet energizing people - say hello to everyone and wish them a great day, go here.
- Spiritual - Go to church/temple/mosque/meetinghouse - commune with God
- Meditate - If you don't know how - check John Mercede out
- Brainstorm with your team or boss - go offsite and think outside of the box
Don't just get a little energy — couple it with enthusiasm. Don't just get a little enthusiasm — bind it with energy.
You won't know what hit you, your career and your life.

I gave up soda two years ago. I used to drink it like water. Now I drink water. I sleep better and have lost 5% of my body weight without another major change.
Going through my closets, shelves, etc. and getting rid of things that I haven't used or don't really need. As it's often been difficult in the past for me to part with "things," it's become necessary in order to maintain my sanity.
More risk taking, made me feel more alive. Just jumping in and doing something different, getting myself out of my comfort zone. Engaging in conversation with strangers, got me way more friends than I've ever had previously. Also leads to some powerful stories.
I threw out all my old socks, and bought 10 identical pairs. My life is so much easier.
I cut out sugar and vastly increased vegetable intake.
I started working out and trying to eat better, and girls notice me way more now. It was hard work, but I love being fit. It feels much more natural. A funny response to this tip: “Now if you just get a suit you'll be unstoppable.”
I started flossing on a daily basis about a year ago. I'm normally the guy who goes to the dentist and gets the lecture about taking better care of my teeth. The last time I went, the hygienist finished, looked me in the eyes and said "Your oral hygiene is excellent."
I got rid of all my credit cards 2 years ago. I am more careful with how I choose to spend money.
When I see people I know, even acquaintances, I act like I am genuinely really happy to see them and give them a big smile. Someone else did this for me once. I was hooked.
I quit playing video games and ‘surfing’ the web. The days are so long now I have no idea what to do with them. I actually started writing my dissertation and exercising out of sheer lack of anything else to do.
I started waking up at 5:00 AM so I can get in my personal time to read/work on projects before everyone else is awake to distract me. I used to dread waking up early, now I look forward to that time every night when I go to sleep. FYI - I go to bed at 10:00 PM.
Started dressing nicer. People really do notice.
Recently, I've been sitting up straight. I'm tall so I have a tendency to hunch over and slouch when I'm sitting. The posture makes me feel less sleepy and more alert, which is odd because I can't figure out how that works. The trick for me was to roll back my shoulders and the rest kind of follows.
I left my job in a cubicle to teach preschool. It's a lot less glamorous to tell someone that I work in childcare but it has really affected my lifestyle. Surprisingly, I'm a lot less drained at the end of the day. Something about staring at a computer screen for eight hours is just tiring. Now I come home and actually have energy to do stuff. I'm happier, and most importantly I don't dread work on Sunday evening.
Regular meditation. It definitely takes some patience and practice, but regular meditation has amplified my living experience substantially. I am more engaged in the richness of life as a result. I can glide through tasks with pleasant ease, and never feel like I'm flustered or frustrated. It's hard to explain the subtleties of how practicing meditation has improved my overall well being, its as if people, places, goals, tasks and basically everything else has changed around me plus I have a more confident outlook. I stopped caring about what anyone thought about me. I went from being a shy kid, to a successful, confident, happy man!
Here’s my favorite (one person did this!):
- Remind yourself where you want to be, what you want to be doing, and envision yourself getting there throughout the day. If you have a solid vision, you can make it reality.
- Start the day with some change in a pocket you normally don't keep change in. Every time you say something nice to someone move a coin to another pocket. It is a powerful thing to know at the end of the day that, if nothing else, you made a few people feel good about something.
- Cook dinner for your friends once a week if you can. There is no better bonding than regular dinner as a family.
- Introduce yourself to everyone you come into contact with at social events. Everyone has a story to share and most have the desire to collaborate. You'll never know who you might have met and what you could have accomplished together if you don't say hi and they don't know your name.
